0:00 A forensic anthropologist named Meg runs the body farm, a facility where she teaches FBI agents about the decomposition of the human body in different environments to help solve [music] cold cases. Tonight, she's at a diner looking at a case from 1973, but the photographs of the body can still tell her details about the victim like their age and dominant hand. Suddenly, the lights in the diner start flickering and the jukebox begins to play music on its own. >> [music] >> The lights quickly go back to normal and Meg just keeps working. She tries to read the letter that was found with the body, but most of it is not very clear. At least she manages to read the end, which says, "I hope that you're proud of me, Dad." This makes her lose her appetite. Three days later, a team of police officers is investigating the murder of a mother and her 6-year-old daughter in a house near the bay. There's blood everywhere and the site is so disturbing that Ian is in shock for several seconds. >> [music] >> He also notices that his watch is

0:46 cracked. Moments later, they find one more body on the abandoned train tracks. 27 days later, Ian goes to see Meg. He tells her about the mother and the daughter, explaining that their bodies were torn apart, but they couldn't tell by what. The third body was intact and a DNA test has revealed [music] it's Meg's father, who left when she was four. Meg looks at the pictures of his body, yet she doesn't show any emotion. Ian admits the police are at a loss and want Meg to help, but she turns him down. He leaves her a copy of the files anyway in case she changes her mind. At home, Meg tries to distract herself with a video game, but she can't stop thinking about the case and decides to look at the files. She ends up falling asleep, but she's startled awake by some noises, a door opening, something breaking, and a person [music] cursing. Meg rushes to activate the house alarm and grabs her gun before going downstairs. Her father

1:33 Peter is desperately asking for help on the phone and when he sees Meg, he says, "It's coming for me" before leaving. Then Meg collapses as she has a panic attack, realizing she's hallucinated it all. Concluding she needs closure for her daddy issues, Meg calls Ian and agrees to help with the case. The next day Meg goes to the morgue with Ian and his father Marks, who is also a [music] cop. Coroner Joe shows her the mother's body, but the remaining pieces of the child are in a bin. The bite and claw marks indicate an animal attack. However, Peter's body doesn't have any marks and the decomposition shows he's been dead for a while. >> [music] >> The bodies have been in the morgue for 4 weeks, but Meg doesn't smell any chemicals on Peter's even though it looks well preserved. Joe says he didn't have to use any because the body is staying like that on its own. Meg begins examining her father and concludes he died of asphyxiation, most likely self-deletion, but they can't rule out murder. Carpet marks indicate he died

2:19 inside and he was in a late stage of decay when he fell from the rope. It seems he decomposed for around 30 days before it was moved. Meg wants to open the body again for further investigation and Joe protests since there would be a conflict of interest. However, Meg points out she [music] hasn't seen Peter since she was four, so she doesn't feel anything for him. She doesn't consider him family at all. Since the police labs are overwhelmed with work, Ian and his father agree to let Meg handle this. After the men leave, Meg begins a closer examination. She finds a tattoo on Peter's left palm and a gunshot wound on his shoulder. When she opens him, she notices that his ribs have been [music] broken and mended dozens of times. There also are electrical and thermal burns and serious trauma on the joints. Later, Meg tells Ian that Peter was tortured while he was still alive [music] and he may have self-deleted to escape from that hell. He was right-handed and the tattoo's ink is on the surface, so she

3:05 also believes he did it himself. The next morning, Ian takes Meg to the crime scene. The train tracks don't have power, so she thinks it's weird that bugs didn't get anywhere near Peter's body. Joe's report concludes the rain washed away the bugs, but she isn't convinced. She also notices a red van driving down the road. >> [music] >> Afterward, Ian and Meg go to a diner for lunch. She thinks the only way to explain the lack of bugs is that Peter died in a sealed environment. Ian asks her how her mother is handling the news and Meg admits she hasn't told her yet. She explains that when Peter abandoned them, he took the car and the family's life savings. Her mother lost the house and had to file for bankruptcy, but she never told her daughter about this. Meg pieced together the details over the years. >> [music] >> In return, Ian shares that his dad didn't allow his grandfather to see him. One night, his grandfather sneaked into the house anyway and dragged little Ian out of bed to take him on a ride in his

3:51 police car. >> [music] >> After wandering around the city the whole night, the grandfather gave Ian his watch and told him he hoped he thought better of him than his dad did. Ian never told his father about that night or the watch. >> [music] >> In the evening, Meg calls her mother and finally tells her what happened. Her mom only tells her to stay away from the case and hangs up. Then Meg hears a noise and turns around to see another hallucination. Peter's body is hanging in her closet growling at her. Meanwhile, Ian goes to the morgue and finds the furnace unattended. He looks every room for Joe to no avail. Then he hears a weird noise, so he follows it until he sees something furry hissing in the shadows. Panicking, Ian fires his gun before running away calling for help on his radio while looking for the exit. Suddenly, the mysterious creature jumps on him to devour him accidentally pushing him against the button that opens the furnace. The flames come out and spread on his body. By the time the

4:37 firemen arrive, Ian is nothing but ash and they've lost all the bodies from the case. However, Joe is safe. While Meg tells Marks that she can work with ash, someone on a respirator watches the scene from a red van. 19 days later, Meg gets a call from Joe, who is now working in the basement of the police station. He says there's no smoke inhalation on Ian, but it wasn't the burns that killed him. >> [music] >> There are bite marks that match the mother and daughter from the other case. After taking a new look at the file, Meg goes to see Marks, >> [music] >> who has finally found the grandfather's watch. She's used fluorescence imaging on the pictures of the bite marks and discovered that while the incisions are from something non-human, the sequence indicates human teeth. Meg also thinks that her mother knows something and perhaps a cop could make her talk. Moments later, Meg and Marks visit her mother Joni, who is angry because her daughter keeps poking at their past. >> [music] >> Marks calms her down and convinces her to talk for closure. Joni shares that

5:24 she met Peter on the oil rig where they both worked. In that line of work, it wasn't strange for people to take off for weeks at a time. So, when Peter disappeared, Joni didn't think anything of it at first. A few days later, two cops showed up asking if a guy named Lou Bishop worked with Peter. Joni never heard the name before, but she assumed Peter was involved in something criminal, so she changed her and Meg's names and started a new life. Meg is upset to realize her mother has been hiding all this from her and leaves the room. Later, Meg and Marks look at old family pictures. As a teen, Meg was so angry at her dad that she burned his face on a few photos. She reveals that her dog ran away the night her father left and she found it dead a few days later. In return, >> [music] >> Marks shares that Ian wanted to be a cop like his grandfather, but he wouldn't let him, so they fought a lot. After Mark's wife died, he changed his mind and joined the force with his son. The next day, Meg and the police investigate

6:11 Lou Bishop, who used to be the groundskeeper at a church. One night he was out walking the pastor's dog when he was attacked by something. By the time the paramedics found him, his heart had stopped and he was missing half a face. They concluded he had no brain activity for a few minutes, yet they managed to revive him in the ER. Lou was in a coma for about 6 weeks and when he woke up, he discovered he was paralyzed from the waist down and they amputated his right arm. All face and limb have been rejected by the body. This attack happened the same day Peter went missing and they never found out who did it. Lou is still alive, so Meg and Marks go to see him at the address on the file. However, the door is opened by Daniel, who doesn't know what they're talking about and refuses to let them in. After the duo leaves, Daniel checks on his roommate, who is in bed connected to a respirator. That night, Meg and the cops listen to the recording of a 911 call.

6:56 It was Peter who found Lou and called for help, but he used Glendon Mathers as a fake name. Meg's voice and the dog's barking can be heard in the background. This is the last time she saw him before he disappeared. The next day the police find a new body with bite marks, so officer Lenny picks Meg up. >> [music] >> During the ride, he tells her they searched for the name Glendon Mathers but got no matches. At the scene of the crime, Marks and Lenny search every room because they believe the criminal may still be around. To their shock, they find Peter's body [music] again and there's blood all over his teeth and hands. Joe calls it witchcraft, so Meg snaps at his lack of professionalism and leaves the building. >> [music] >> Afterward, Meg calls her partner at the body farm and asks her to do an age progression on Peter's skull. At that moment, she sees a red van parked nearby and comes closer to investigate, only to find Daniel. He refuses to answer her questions and tries to leave, but she

7:42 blocks the vehicle and calls for help. Soon police cars surround the van and Daniel admits his father is in the back. He brings him out to reveal a deformed Lou in a wheelchair. >> [music] >> At the police station, Meg notices that Daniel won't stop looking at his watch. Lenny arrives saying he's finally found the name Glendon Mathers on a PO box in a private [music] post center. The manager said this client has been with him for years, but a few weeks ago they smelled something awful in that box. When they opened it, they found a bag of rotting blood. The box's contract has an address and Meg searches it online. She notices something peculiar so she calls Johnny to ask for the number of the oil platform she worked on. It matches what she sees on the screen which means [music] Peter has been living across the same oil platform all this time. At the body farm the 3D printer finishes making a copy of Peter's skull and it appears quite monstrous. Meanwhile Marks

8:27 interrogates Daniel who swears he never heard of Peter before. He does recognize the name Glendon Mathers as the guy who called 911 for his dad and admits they've been looking for him all these years. Since the attack Lewis had recurring nightmares about being trapped in a cage in a basement. However, two weeks ago his dreams changed and he wasn't in the cage anymore. Lou can't really talk. He's told these bits to his son using notes. Daniel only wanted to help his father get closure so he started to listen to the police scanners. Since the police have no evidence against him, Daniel announces he's leaving clearly worried about the time. >> [music] >> Meg refuses to believe they know nothing and interrogates Lou who still can't talk. Suddenly the lights start flickering and Lou begins to growl as he grabs Meg's arm. Daniel stops Marks from calling an ambulance and explains this happens every full moon saying it's [music] just a nightmare and that Lou thinks he was attacked by a werewolf. At

9:12 the same time the clock on the wall [music] starts to crack. In the basement Joe is getting ready to work and doesn't see Peter move. When he hears a noise he turns around to find the body on the floor. He comes closer to move it only to notice that the body is still breathing. Suddenly Peter grabs Joe's leg and slowly rips it off. A panicking Joe moves away while Peter's body squirms under the flickering lights. Soon he starts to transform. His nails and teeth get pointy and fur appears all over his body. >> [music] >> It turns out the werewolf story is true after all. As his transformation ends his howl echoes in the lab. When Marks and Meg come looking for Joe they find him dead and his blood splattered everywhere. The footprints on the floor are shaped like a wolf's. They quickly head to the armory to get some guns. Upstairs a cop hears a weird noise and goes to investigate only to find Peter feeding on another officer. He quickly

9:58 opens fire but the wolf attacks him and kills him too. Then Peter goes from room to room in the station killing every copy finds on his way. The phone operator is dragged to Marks office and Peter kills her while hearing his own voice in the recording. When Lenny finds Peter, he howls so loudly that he makes the lights flicker and even burn some bulbs. Lenny tries to open fire, but Peter jumps on him and bites his arm to disarm him. In the struggle, [music] Lenny manages to pull out his pepper spray and uses it on the wolf's face, making it back off. At that moment, Marks comes back and opens fire. The bullets hit Peter many times, but he can still run. Meg can only watch the wolf in shock as he escapes through the back door. Then Meg checks on Lou and [music] Daniel, who finally believes his dad's story. Meg theorizes that the several blood transfusions Lou received prevented him from becoming a werewolf, too, but he still has a small connection

10:44 to Peter. She apologizes for her father's crimes and asks Lou if he knows where Peter is going. With some effort, Lou manages to say home. Afterward, Marks, Meg, and Lenny leave in a police car. Meg bandages Lenny's arm while sharing her conclusions. Peter did die, but the werewolf inside him can still transform the dead body every full moon. The maggots could sense the living wolf, so they never approached the body. Lenny wonders if he'll transform as well. When the car arrives at Peter's address, [music] they see warning signs with disgusting animal heads. The trio enters the house, but there's no power, so Lenny goes to the back to check the generator. Meg and Marks go upstairs and Lenny turns on the light just in time for them to discover that Peter has been keeping an eye on Meg's career. He has newspaper clips talking about her in magazines that published her articles. There's a computer connected to a TV playing a video of Peter talking about

11:29 his research. He had been using silver nitrate on his gums hoping it would stop the transformation. There are also many nautical maps and several tapes, so Marks tells Meg to watch the tapes while they keep investigating. By watching the videos, Meg learns that all the injuries she saw during the autopsy had been self-inflicted. Peter had been experimenting with ways to kill the werewolf, mostly using silver. He tried lots of things from the myths all around the world, like stigmata tattoos and psalms said backwards, but nothing [music] worked. Peter also kept an eye on Lou and like Meg, he concluded that the transfusion kept him from transforming. Eventually, Peter shaved his head and put the hair in the garden to keep bugs away. However, it instantly grew back after transforming. He ended up building an electrified cage so he could spend the full moon nights in it without hurting anyone. The last two tapes are dated a month before Peter was found by Ian. >> [music] >> One is titled for Joni and Meg and the

12:16 other one for Lou. Meg plays the one with her name and Peter appear sharing what a hell it was to live like this. As a last message to his family, he explained that he tried everything he could to get cured and go back to them, but he failed. He never stopped loving them and he was very proud of Meg for everything she accomplished. While Meg cries her heart out, the werewolf suddenly jumps through the window. >> [music] >> Lenny tackles him so his friends can run away and he whispers it's coming for me before Peter kills him. Meg and Marks run to hide in the basement, which has a steel door and an electronic lock. When it closes, it activates a music player. Looking around, they find the camera and the cage from Peter's experiments. There's also the rope he used to self-delete. Marks tries to call for help, but his radio isn't working. Soon the werewolf is pounding on the door and even lets the lock scan his eyes. The first few tries fail, but eventually the lock identifies him as Peter and opens

13:02 the door. Meg and Marks immediately hide, although it pains Meg to hear her father howling in pain. When they see an opening, they carefully sneak around in the shadows, but they're startled by one of Peter's many machines. Their gasps allow the werewolf to find them and Meg begins to run, but Marks is knocked down. To protect herself, Meg jumps into the cage and closes it right before Peter can get her. First, he tries to reach her through the bars, but then he realizes he can open the cage and Meg has to hold the door down. When Marks recovers [music] he sees that the power switch is missing a connection and fills it with his grandfather's watch. He tells Meg to let go of the bars and turns it on, so the werewolf is immediately electrocuted and collapses. The connection is so shabby that it electrocutes Marks, too, and the music stops. Meg also passes out and dreams about her dad explaining he self-deleted because he thought it would kill the werewolf, too. He tells her

13:48 that the wolf will kill again, so she must lure it to her and outlast it until the sun comes up. When Meg wakes up, the werewolf is gone and Marks is unconscious. After grabbing Marks' gun, she finds a huge pipe and crawls through it to come out on the beach. She follows the footprints on the sand until she finds Peter and extends her bloody hand so the smell gets his attention. Once he follows her into the water, Meg opens fire to trigger a chase before diving into hide under an overturned boat. The wolf jumps on it and begins to destroy it, >> [music] >> so Meg swims to return to the shore. The wolf emerges from the water with a loud howl at the same time the sun begins to rise. Meg then runs toward the rig and the wolf tries to follow her, but he's weak and soon collapses as his body begins to transform. >> [music] >> With a harpoon she's found on the rig, Meg stabs him in the chest. The wolf still finishes transforming and Peter reaches [music] for his daughter before

14:33 becoming a dead body again. A year later, Daniel finds the tape titled for Lou in the mail. He watches it with his father and they finally get an explanation for everything. Years ago, a boat had crashed into the oil rig and Peter was sent to investigate. He found a bunch of dead bodies in a cage with a creature that clawed his arm. The boat ended up sinking with the cage and Peter hid his injury to avoid getting fired. However, he transformed into a werewolf and killed his co-workers before running back to the shore, where he attacked Lou, too. Meanwhile, Marks and Meg have kept Peter's body chained in a special container in the forest, [music] where they've been trying to cure him.
