00 Friends, do you know what's going to happen to the smartphone ecosystem in the next 12-18 months? This is going to be a very important video if you're interested in tech. If you want to know where are we going as far as tech & smartphones are concerned. I'm going to tell you that in this video. In fact, I'm going to tell you 15 tech trends in this video which you should know. Yes, let's start! I'm going to try to make it as short as possible. But as I said, this is an important video so watch it carefully till the end. But before starting, if you're new to our channel then do hit SUBSCRIBE & the BELL ICON! We do a lot of time, effort & research for these videos. The only thing we ask is to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE!

47 Do that! So, first of all, as everyone knows, the prices of smartphones have increased. No, they haven't increased but they're going to increase even more. If I tell you something, the biggest culprit is the memory price. We say that the prices of chips have increased. What does it mean? Specifically, the RAM prices have increased. In the last 3 months, the RAM prices have increased by 80%! RAM prices have increased! Now, the main chipset like Dimensity, Qualcomm, etc. The RAM in the phone has increased more than the chipset. And because of that, we used to call the base variant 8GB or 128GB in Rs 20K. But now, we have 4GB & 6GB RAM.

34 And there's only 1 reason for this. AI companies are taking away all the memory. Because if you want to run AI, memory is the biggest component. So that's what the reason is. And in the next 12 months, I don't see this changing. One thing I'll definitely say is that the storage prices have increased. Like 128GB, 256GB, SD cards, etc. The prices of those will be stabilized but the RAM prices won't be. And because of that, the prices of phones are going to increase. Yes, do you think they'll decrease slowly? No, that's not going to happen for the next 12 months. Unless something revolutionary happens. But I don't see that happening. And because of that, the average selling price of smartphones has increased.

21 Just 3 years ago, the median selling price was around Rs 20K. Now it's Rs 318 which is above Rs 30K. I mean, nearly 50% rise in median price is the average selling price. This means that people are buying more expensive phones. Because the specs aren't in their price range, so they're extending their budget. So the prices are obviously increasing. But because of that, people are using phones for a longer period of time. Before, people used to use phones for 2 years. Now, people are using the same phone for 3-4 years. And after that, they're upgrading. The 2nd trend in 2027 is that people are preferring refurbished phones.

06 Because at a good price, if you're getting a 5G refurbished phone, you'll obviously prefer it over a 4G phone. So refurbished phones are definitely going to increase. Not only that, people are buying expensive phones. So they want to go to a shop & experience it first. Around 58% of people are going to offline shops & then buying phones. It's obvious that if you're spending Rs 40-50K on something, then you want to see, experience, see the camera & see the software. So that definitely is there. I'm talking about hardware & smartphones. But there's another issue for people in 2027.

51 Recharge prices are going to increase. If you look at the last year, the mobile network recharge rates increased in 2024. Now, at the end of 2026-2027, you'll see rises. According to me, the price hike is going to be around 15%. You'll have to pay 15% more every month for your recharge. And remember, Jio's IPO is coming up & it's good for them. But for consumers, it's not all that great. The 2nd thing is, Jio & Airtel are the only competitors. Yes, there's Vee & BSNL. But if I talk about the 2 main competitors, I'd say Jio & Airtel. And because of that, they're doing it on their own.

36 Jio & Airtel are increasing the price & Airtel is increasing the price. When there are 4-5 competitors, they don't want to increase the market share. They don't want to increase the market share. So that's another thing that's going to be the trend in 2027. Where the recharge rates are increasing & the smartphone prices are also increasing. And as I said before, the prices are increasing & that's why 4G phones are coming back. And let me tell you, these 4G phones are going to be limited till 2027. I don't think there'll be 4G phones after that. And the reason is, the shelf life of 4G phones is about to end. Their stocks & 4G chipsets are slowly phasing out. So because of the price hike, the brands are bringing in 4G phones.

21 But if I give you a suggestion, then extend the budget & buy a refurbished 5G phone. Or extend & buy a new 5G phone. Don't look after 4G phones, but the budget is tight & you can't extend it. There are a lot of such people & that's why 4G phones are coming back. In fact, the market share of 4G phones has increased in 2026. And it's going to increase even more in 2027. This is the lower end, but what about the upper end, the Ultra phones? The prices of Ultra phones are increasing so much that the Ultra phones we saw in 2025-26, won't be coming in 2027. Like the Xiaomi 18 Ultra has been cancelled. Oppo & Vivo's Ultra phones, their X series Ultra, or Oppo Find X10 Ultra etc. won't be coming in India.

07 So whether it's Oppo, Vivo or Xiaomi, they won't be coming. In fact, the Pro will be the Ultra for us. But the cameras of the Ultra are cutting edge. Some of the best, Indian consumers won't be able to experience. And there's a reason for that. If a Vivo Ultra phone is priced at Rs 2.5-2.5 Lakhs, then it's not a market for smartphone players. Because they know that not many people are going to buy it. And it's not going to be that profitable. And it's all business. So the Ultra phones will definitely be less. So the 4G phones are going to increase, but the Ultra phones which are more expensive, are definitely going to be less. Now let's talk about the smartphone cameras. In 2026, we saw 1 thing. We're seeing more & more 200MP cameras.

53 There was a trend in 2022 that it's 50MP, then 100MP etc. Then in 2025, it reduced. In 2026, the count of megapixels started increasing again. But yes, we're seeing good 200MP cameras. In fact, Samsung is making their own big 200MP sensor. But the big & good thing for me is that we'll see 1 inch sensor in 2027. And when it's a bigger sensor, it's definitely a much better & brighter picture. So we're definitely going to see 200MP cameras & 1 inch sensors. In fact, I think in 2027, Apple will launch an iPhone with a 200MP sensor. Oh that'll be crazy! 2027 is the 20th year of iPhone.

39 So we'll definitely see something. And we're definitely going to see more telephoto zoom. That's definitely the trend that I'm looking at. The 2nd thing is a bigger battery. Everyone is getting 2NM chipsets, so they're going to be powerful chipsets. But along with that, a bigger battery. The 5000mAh benchmark for batteries, I think it'll shift to 6-6500mAh. There'll be a lot of phones. In fact, the flagship phones will come with 8000-8500mAh battery. Even the normal phones will come with 6-7500mAh battery. So there's going to be a bigger battery & faster 2NM chipsets. And because of 2NM, they're power efficient too. So if you have to charge your phone in the evening, that's going to be history.

24 Literally, you can use any phone for 2 days. According to me, that's going to be a huge thing. And remember, 2NM chipsets across the board, whether it's Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung. Everyone is shifting to 2NM, so that's definitely going to be a big thing. And according to me, the most exciting trend is going to be agentic phones. By agentic phones, I mean your phone will have your agents. Who'll do tasks for you autonomously. AI has been around for the past 3-4 years. We look at it as a chatbot. We used to ask questions & it used to give reactive answers. Agents are proactive. They'll look at your phone's data, emails, etc. And it'll be on the device itself.

10 So there won't be much of a privacy issue. If it goes to the cloud, then there'll be a privacy issue. But it'll probably know you very well. What are your likes & dislikes. I'll give you 2-3 examples. If you want to book a flight, you don't have to go to MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, etc. To look for the best ticket deals. Your agent will do it for you. You just have to write a line. Find me the best flights from Mumbai to San Francisco. He'll give you 4-5 options & tell you the best options. He'll tell you everything himself. So you just have to do 1 thing & he'll do it for you. Literally friends, I've already used agentic AI on my phone in 2026. And I track my calorie count & give suggestions on strength training.

59 And it's told to me & it gets intelligent. So a lot of grunt work is done on your behalf. And there comes a very important aspect. If you want an agent to perform locally on your phone. Then you need a powerful phone. You need a good chipset & a good RAM. Because agentic AI is dependent on RAM. So it's a catch 22 situation. Phone prices are also increasing. A lot of new things are coming on your phone due to AI. But to run it, you need powerful phones. And these powerful phones are becoming very expensive. So it's a very interesting thing.

44 1st, 4G phones are increasing. People are looking at lower end phones as their price is Rs 20-25K. But if you want to run everything agentic, then you need a phone for Rs 80-90K. You need at least 12GB RAM. So, interesting times ahead. I don't know how consumers are going to react. Maybe a lot of people will shift to flagship phones. Because AI is very important for them. Maybe people will say that there's no need to spend so much money. Do let us know in the comments, what do you think? How is it going to be? This is going to be a very interesting phase, the 2027 Forge show. The flagship phones that we're seeing now. They're coming out thick as they have 8-8.5K mAh battery. But in 2027, I think there'll be a bigger battery & thinner phones. It's already possible as Silicon Carbon technology packs more power in a smaller size.

35 So in 2027, we'll see a lot of phones on that technology. And because of that, we've just seen that the Poco X8 Power has a 10K mAh battery. And it's less than 9mm thick. So even though the battery capacity is going to increase, Relatively, their size & weight isn't going to increase much. That's definitely a trend that we're going to see. And literally, you're going to get phones above 6K mAh battery. Whether it's mid range, budget or in the flagship zone. So that's the trend, I definitely think. And there's another amazing trend. When Apple does something, everyone else follows it. And I'll tell you the reason for it. For the past 6-8 years, we've seen Samsung foldable phones in 2020-21.

23 Samsung has been in foldable phones since then. It took Apple 6 years to bring all the other brands' foldable phones. In fact, there was a lot of hype for foldable phones before. And then if you look at 2023-2024-2025, their interest was low. But as soon as Apple launched their fold, people got huge interest. So many people are talking about it. Everyone is waiting for the duo as Apple has launched it. There's a wide foldable phone, they're going to launch it. Before that, Samsung launched it. And now that form factor is going to be the de facto form factor, according to me. So according to me, foldable phones are going to increase in 2027. And not just a little, I think they'll increase by 30-40% compared to what was sold in 2026.

10 And all thanks to Apple. And because of Apple, other brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo will launch wide foldable phones. So that's another very interesting trend that we're going to see in 2027. There's another category for which I'm very excited & that's smart glasses. And I'm not just saying it today, I've been saying it for the past 2-3 years. I think a lot of AI glasses, agentic AI, will not just come on your phone, but on your glasses too. And there's an advantage of smart glasses. There are cameras, there are sensors, they know the location. So they can see what you're doing, they know the location. Because of that, there's going to be a lot of intelligence. And smart glasses are going to be such wearables that the category will increase a lot.

55 So AI smart glasses are definitely going to increase their market share by 45-50% according to me. And all brands are going to launch them. Samsung will launch their smart glasses too. Apple is also going to launch their smart glasses by the end of 2027. Meta is already buying from Ray-Ban & Oakley. And they're launching other glasses too. So this particular category is definitely going to go quite a lot. And do you know an exciting trend? There's going to be a lot of satellite internet connectivity. Meaning, you'll be able to access the internet directly from your phone via satellite. So if you want to do text messaging, call, even if you want to transfer data & watch videos. So maybe on your phone, it'll not be mass, but it'll be a segment where you'll be able to access the internet via satellite.

48 Remember, Jio, Airtel, Starlink, there are a lot of companies that are already sending satellites to constellations. They're testing the internet, they've got regulatory approvals. They've stopped at the security clearance stage. So you won't need network data, signals, towers etc. You're going to get a network no matter where you are. That's another trend that I think we'll definitely see by the end of 2027. And it's going to keep increasing in 2028-29. This is going to be an ongoing thing. Maybe in the next 4-5 years, the towers will end. We're going to get direct internet connectivity via satellite.

33 Obviously, the prices are going to increase at the start. But as it happens with everyone, the prices are also going to decrease. As I said, 2027 is going to be a very big year. Because it's the 20th year of iPhones & they're going to bring something special. We're already seeing 2 launch events in October. In September, there was an iPhone launch event. Then in March-April, there's going to be another launch event for iPhones. Because these are the Pro models & the Consumer models are coming in March. And since it's the 28th year, we'll see some special edition iPhones. And if I talk about the special edition iPhones, the iPhones that are going to be launched in the 2nd half of 2027, I think they're going to launch with curved glasses. We've been seeing curved glasses in Android for the past 10 years.

20 Finally, it might come in the iPhone. And then again, it becomes a trend. Because people don't like curved glasses right now. But once it comes in the iPhone, you know. Quad curved glasses with iPhone. Oh My God! Crazy! There's another small thing, which I think is an ongoing trend. We're seeing it for the past 4-5 years, not just for 2027. The smartphone brands are going to launch their own chipsets. And the smartphones are going to come on top of that. And it's obvious why. Because you get more control & the pricing is less. Xiaomi's X-Ring O3, Huawei's Kirin 9050 Pro, Apple's Samsung A20, A19 Pro chipsets, Samsung's Exynos. These 14-15 trends, I think they're going to rule for the next 12-18 months.

09 So if I have to summarize, If you want to upgrade your phone, If you can use it for the next 1 year, I'd say extend it. Wait for 2027 to get over. Maybe by 2028, the prices will be reduced. But I have a doubt. If you want to upgrade, do it now on a good phone. And if your budget allows, get good 5G phones. So that you can experience the agentic AI. So that's very important. And if you're buying a flagship, buy it with minimum 12GB RAM. RAM is going to be very important. And under Rs 15-20K, 4G phones are going to increase. Because those who can't increase their budget,

54 will buy 4G phones or refurbished 5G phones. So that's going to be very important. I've told you so many things. Do you agree with all these trends? Or do you think there's more to come? And which is the most exciting trend for you? And which is the most dangerous trend? Please do tell in the COMMENTS section. That's all for this video.
