12:30 technical issues. It got delayed for 20 25 minutes. Uh I just like I'm waiting for a few dignitaries to join. I'll start quickly. Just give me couple of more minutes please. Thanks for your patience.

20:12 U good morning sir just I'm waiting for um wanka sir and uh other two people sir I will start quickly I inform

21:30 Can you hear us ma'am? Hello? >> Uh yes. Yes, sir. I can hear you. Uh yeah, I can hear you, sir. Just one one second, sir. V sir is joining. Actually, he was waiting for you to join just like No, no, we were together me and Shr. Yes, sir. Thanks, sir. Thank you so much. Good morning everyone. Sorry for the delay. I'm Vasha Sambhaji an assistant professor in the department of quantum technology institute and computer science and engineering SRM

22:15 university AP. Uh I it's my pleasure to warmly welcome you all to the SRM University AP partner plus Kiskit palface 2026 online module. On behalf of SRM University AP I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to our distinguished dignitaries and guest uh Sri Ci Shrar Sur mission director AP state quantum mission government of Andhra Pradesh Dr. LV Subramanyam SEO cubid force. Professor C. Satish Kumar S. Vice Chancellor SRM University AP. Professor CV Tommy S dean SRM University AP. Professor Ranjit Tapas Dean research

23:00 SRM University AP and Professor Somnad Bhachara Sur Dean Quantum Technology Institute SRM University AP. Welcome you all sir. I also warmly welcome all the speakers, faculty members, researchers and most importantly all the enthusiastic participants joining us for this exciting 3 days online program. Kiskit has its roots in 2017 when IBM released it as an open-source framework for programming quantum computers. The first kisskit code was committed on 3rd March 2017 followed by the first public release on 7th March 2017. Since then, Kiskit has grown into a global quantum software

23:48 ecosystem supporting education, research and the development of practical quantum applications. The initiative grave from the Kiskit community's efforts to make a quantum computing more accessible and practical for learners around the world. Though Kiskit palface participants get an opportunity to learn Kiskuit, explore quantum algorithms and engage with rapidly evolving quantum ecosystem. We are especially happy to have experts from academia industry and quantum ecosystem joining us today. So once again a very warm welcome to everyone and thank you for being part of kiskit

24:34 pulface 2026 at SRM University AP. Now to begin this to begin this program it is my pleasure to invite Cihar mission director AP state quantum mission government of Andhra Pradesh to address the gathering and share his insights from kick and emerging quantum ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. Sir the stage is open for you and we are having the live streaming live streaming for other participants on YouTube sir. Thank you sir. Over to you sir. Thank you ma'am. Respected vice chancellor uh professors, faculty members, researchers, students and all friends who are there. Good morning and

25:20 uh thank you. It's been pleasure uh to participate in this conference the 3-day workshop for Kiskit fallest. So my experience with Kiskit has been since 2020 uh where through TCS we were attending Kiskuit all the festivals the summer school the fall fest the spring fest uh the spring summer school then the fall fest and then there's a developer day all the things where the great learning opportunities for everyone uh to understand this technology and as IBM releases this new computers so we have to be on a continuous years learning cycle and uh this is the best way of coming together and learning this next 3 days.

26:05 So it's important for all of us. So we are hitting significant momentum in Andhra Pradesh. Uh so we are now uh looking at bigger numbers. So earlier when back in 2020 the numbers were in some hundreds so throughout the world but now in 2026 so we are seeing large participation coming from several organizations and we are gaining the momentum that is good uh but in the days of AI it's not just about the numbers it's also about the quality right so we we are today we are the largest developer community of IBM uh quiskit developers us. Uh but the kind of programs or the kind of projects that we handle uh on

26:53 this one will require still a lot more efforts uh from all our uh from all our fraternity to take up some some of these big problems and run on this best quantum computers that are going to come. So at Andhra Pradesh so we are having uh this the best state-of-the-art quantum computer that is going to be available from February uh for everyone and uh some of you will get discounted access and some of you are will also get free access uh to this machine. So by that time we all should be ready picking up these big problems state-of-the-art approaches that we need to create by that time for this 120 cubit quantum computer. So IBM will also gradually progress. So maybe next year we'll have even better version of the quant

27:38 computers. So our learning cycle is always continuous. But uh we would require to pick up the problem statements and then start working on this. In order to facilitate this, we've also taken another initiative. So it's called uh QIC quantum and AI innovation center where we are engaging the entire state academic ecosystem and many of you are participants in this program. So we have about uh 182 teams as of today working on use cases more than 4,000 people are uh engaged in this program. So through this we have supplied 100 use cases. We our request is uh for all of you to pick up the use cases that are of interest to your domain area and get

28:23 ready to execute them once our quantum computer is ready. So in the software engineering life cycle of executing a a quantum program, you always start with a problem statement. You solve the problem with a classical version of technology could be AI or optimization whatever also used on classical tools and then subsequently you try this on simulators uh the simulators that are available to you either on your own personal laptop or your own infrastructure or the simulators that are provided by uh some of these leading players like IBM AWS and others and then you jump onto the real computer. So this is the sequence that we follow. So uh uh so maybe if you have a feeling that I don't have access to quantum computers so I'll not be able to do so that is not correct

29:09 because you have to go through this full journey of running it on classical then trying it on simulators and then actually running it on actual real quantum computers. So that sequence will take take some time and uh with AI available so we are able to quickly create some of these frameworks on classical systems and then try out immediately. So our goal is to benchmark continuously against the classical systems. we have to provide the proof of advantage and uh I'm hoping the the next three days will be uh so the several speakers are there who will be helping you with these approaches to address the problem statements and it will be a great learning exercise so that you can pick up uh all the frameworks and uh learnings from these 3-day sessions and

29:56 try to apply to your problem statements and get ready to run this on the bigger systems. The bigger systems are right now very expensive but at the same time so our objective right now is to show that there is significant value. So we've already seen demonstrations that talk about the error convergence uh which is happening at a faster rate. We seeing the promise of uh uh running several layers of neural networks on quantum computers thereby bringing exponential acceleration. So there are many such things that are possible. So we now have to establish all these proofs so that we can slowly add value to the large scale industrial problems and this should result in lot of innovation and IP for all of us. So with that I wish you the next 3 days a good learning time and uh

30:44 look forward to work with you and if you need any support on behalf of uh the AP state quantum mission we'll be happy to extend so please work towards it and uh work with a mindset that by February we'll have this machine available and we should try these bigger problems and we should ready we should be ready with rest of the software engineering cycle before that. Thank you and have a great learning. Thank you. Back to you ma'am. >> Yeah, thank you sir. Thank you for the insightful words and for sharing your vision on the quantum ecosystem uh in the Andhra Pradesh and uh let's hope with these initiatives of Kiskit's palfest event many more people will encourage to do the programming with what you are having the weekend. Thank you sir. Thank you so much. Moving

31:30 forward towards the next speaker it's my pleasure to invite Dr. Railway Subramanium sir CEO cubit coast to address the gathering sir you are requested thank you sir over to you sir >> yes good morning good morning everyone uh it's an honor to be here thank you so much for inviting me uh so I want to you know start by giving two homework to everybody who is participating I always like to give some homework to people um so the First one is everyone at the end of this kisskit fall fest must have used a quantum computer number one. Okay. So there are many free quantum computers online.

32:16 Okay. So you please at the end of this you must have used one quantum computer and anything that you like. They are freely available over the cloud. So please go and use that quantum computer and write your first program if you have not. I'm sure some of you already have. Okay. So those who have this Kiskit fallest will take you to the next level. But those who are just beginning their first timers you need to go and start using this quantum computer which is there are many online free available. Okay. So please just type on Google chat GPT whichever is your favorite go and

33:02 type there and figure out how to do it. It can be writing a program is very very simple you it's on YouTube you there are multiple videos there is one called zero to quantum many of them are there I'm sure you'll find and within half an hour you can get yourself started okay and I'm sure va ma'am and the team here will also set you on that path so listen attentively and do that second homework is everyone knows Wikipedia and pick any page on quantum. Okay, any of the Wikipedia pages on quantum and from your learnings in this kisskit

33:47 fall fest go and add two lines there on as you know Wikipedia is open source it is editable by anybody so please go and edit or add something there on any of the quantum pages it is okay if you are wrong because then somebody will come and fix it. Okay, that's what opensource is all about. Ma'am said Kiskit is open source. Yes, KisKit is also open source. Wikipedia is also open source. Today I start with Wikipedia. Whatever you learn, just go and add that learning to any of the Wikipedia pages. At the end of this

34:34 Kiskit fallest, maybe some of you can start contributing to Kiskit. Okay. It is one thing to use Kiskit. It is quite another to build KisKit. Okay, we want all of you to of course be users of KisKit but also to become builders of Kiskit. Okay, there is also an effort in India to build India's own quantum operating system. Okay, that also if you feel you can contribute to building the operating system, please join us. Remember in the 1970s before many of you were born, the only people who could use

35:21 computers were scientists. Then a very young man called Bill Gates came and made an operating system. That operating system made computers usable by my child to my mother to grandmother to everybody. Today anybody can use a computer whether it is this computer your mobile phone or laptop or anything. And that seed was swn by a young man called Bill Gates who built the first operating system. Before that nobody could use a computer. After that everybody could use a computer. Today in India we have the quantum operating

36:06 system effort. We want somebody one of you to build that operating system. That effort is a national effort today and ma'am will tell you how you can join it. We want teams from across India to join this open-source effort to build India's quantum operating system and please as I said go and contribute to KisKit become users not only learners take learning very good but take that learning and become users builders we want builders so thank you and all the best uh enjoy this and come out of is stronger. Okay. So, thank you. Thank you ma'am.

36:55 >> Words and motivation. You always motivate us and you are the favorite figure of us for motivation and quantum computing related things. Thank you so much sir for the Now moving towards the next speaker. I request professor Tommy sir to address the gathering. Sir over to you. Thank you sir. >> Yeah good morning. Good morning to all of you respected dignitaries and all the participants especially dear students. Okay. Uh welcome to SRM University AP the school of engineering sciences. I'm the dean for the school of engineering sciences [snorts] and in engineering and sciences school we have 10 departments five engineering departments five science departments and uh that is the structure and we have around 10 to

37:41 12,000 students. So that is the structure. So uh this is organized at present in SRMAP and uh the main uh department which is behind this is uh CSC department and I know a lot of students because uh they came many times and met me have put lot of effort into making sure that this particular uh this particular fest goes the best way. First of all thank you to all of them. Of course our organizers like Vasha is already there but I'm specifically uh thanking all the students because as Wangut said the next generation or the next generation quantum computers all depends upon how the youngsters are putting their effort into that one and

38:27 in this two or three days sessions you are going to learn a lot about uh quantum computing quantum technology uh what are the innovations just like he was uh Wangard was saying that okay we need a operating system or algorithms are needed all these are coming uh in a very fast pace and anybody can contribute it will be like the best contributions and it is not going to take many time. It is not that quantum computers were not there but as he said that it was all with the hands of some scientists because typically they were testing how to create more cubits etc. But now it has open to even the common person also common students also both the hardware as well as the software and

39:14 that is where the this revolution quantum technology revolution has to take place and I'm sure that if people are serious and take it seriously there are enough opportunities even in our country as he says now we are bringing quantum computers or quantum computation facilities are available people should use that especially students with the aptitude should work on that one. Learn the technologies because technology people are also needed in order to make quantum computers because anything which you create more and more uh maybe a factory can produce it but maintenance is needed, algorithms are needed. So all these things are needed. So uh everybody should uh make sure that this particular opportunity comes to you and it is

40:02 coming to you make use of that one and get on top of that one and all this type of uh first even that is called a first actually I look if you look at all that sessions it is not a first it is actually excellent sessions where the expert people are going to give you an overall idea what is to be done or what can be done in this particular field and I'm sure that in 3 days all of you will come with more ideas because if you attend this seriously you are going to get ideas because we always say that the younger generation comes with the ideas the older generation comes with the experience so the experience and idea joins together I'm sure that we can do lot of things in our country itself and

40:48 at least in condom phase also we should uh come to the friend okay like in many areas which we are slowly coming to the front. All the best all the best to the organizers to make sure that uh everything works properly without any delay or without any problem and scientist at SRMAP. Thank you. >> Thank you sir. Thank you so much for uh supporting this event and uh motivating our students because uh dear participants we'd like to uh here announce that like we have lot of opportunities as s said many through this 3 days online program you come to know some ideas and you have opportunities to gain some like rewards when you put your efforts on the

41:34 projects that's what the sir wanted to mention here thank you so much sir so moving forward to the next speaker I would like to Call Professor Somnad Batajara sir Dean Quantum Technology Institute. Uh sir are you here sir? >> Yes. >> Yeah sir. Over to you sir. Thank you sir. >> Can you see me? >> Yes. Yes sir. We can see you sir. Thank you sir. >> I can I cannot see myself. Okay. Where is the screen? Uh just a second. I thought uh professor Randitapa will speak before me. No. Okay. Okay. Just a second. Just one second.

42:20 And okay. Uh good morning everyone. Um uh thanks to our organizing team especially Versa. She is actually discussing this thing for long time. I'm very delighted to be uh to support and our institute is supporting strongly this this kind of a excellent event. Well, okay. Uh so I mean just the the people who do not know um more about us I just wanted to tell who we are and we we started this uh our institute quantum technology institute um in in in April March April and I I

43:06 came from South Africa Johannesburg I joined in March and spent 6 months here already and you observe have witnessed a lot of activities here and achievements uh include that we have installed this first quantum reference facilities in India and very rare to the world um thanks to blue force Vanguard and other colleagues. Then um then we hosted uh in May in in May we hosted IBM quantum lead leadership visit industry engagement etc. And then uh then we started

43:52 actually uh u uh the planning for a diamond quantum lab. That means we wanted to make some uh new kind of processor using superc conducting diamond and diamond envy center and uh this project has been approved. We are in the process of procuring some uh expensive state-of-the-art instruments like ramen spectrometer, magnetometer and uh especially uh diamond deposition chamber which is made in India. Thanks to our VC sir and president sir for granting this uh big project. Now uh we we we started uh recently but

44:37 we are growing very fast. For example, we have um um we have basically uh deputed um four faculties, five faculties actually from other department computer science including BRAA and we are uh we appointed um um actually we through through interviews we have uh extended job offers to eight faculty members and some of them are already accepted and joining soon. So by the end of this year we can we can have a team of more than 10 people 10 faculties. And now the most important thing we have done so far is that BTech quantum quantum uh quantum

45:24 computation and engineering course we launched and it's going very well and and we have advertised for um um PhD program also MTech program post-doal program etc. Oh, so we wanted to to grow big and a big department as well. So this is this is our um this is our actually brief um description of our activities and achievements but I just want to tell you something about kisskit. So so it's a long story. So I have okay my background is is is a condensed matter physics solid state physics and diamond technology nanotechnology

46:11 diamonds. Okay. So in South Africa we have developed lot of technologies uh with with diamonds and um yes electronic circuit um something like that. Well then uh uh we were we are working in a superc conducting diamond. We are trying to make the first processor of superc conducting diamond quantum quantum chip. Well then um I happened to visit IBM I Watson lab and Zurich. I got an invitation there to present my lectures. So there I came to know about Kisskit especially at IBM Watson lab. So I spoke

46:56 to the the people who developed kisskid there and uh we had some exchange of discussions and uh it was very very interesting actually. Well um so how to improve that kiski. So when I came back to South Africa in 2016 17 yeah and we started um motivating our student learning kiskit. [laughter] So I I was uh lecturing that time basically uh honors course which is equivalent to some kind of MSC course here in physics department and basically I introduced quantum quantum computation course for the as a part of

47:44 honors course very basic preliminary cubits etc. Okay. Yeah. And uh but the the what I found that students are so interested to join us to do do research in South Africa actually MSE means course not course work just research work you have to say you have to submit dissertation basically and publish papers. So my first student uh um 2017 he joined me 2018 and he published the first paper in applied physics letters uh using kisskit h so [laughter] that time it was so easy to publish uh just you submit the paper it will be accepted it is so nice okay

48:32 um and then another student also published another paper in 2019 two papers from kiskit Then Shaman Vachara H who joined us in the lab actually working he published few papers and other student. So what I what I want to tell you. So uh the the the thing is that um as our um uh other speaker said you you must not think I mean you should use the machine you you should use the um the software and write the programs. A lot of things you have to learn before you run an actual quantum computer. Yes. So it's a great

49:17 facility offered by IBM and change it changed my life. Look when I was we are affected by COVID 19. So we are sitting at home and for 2 years almost one and a half years. Okay. So that time we fully utilize the kisskit. It was so nice time to use kisskit and developing ideas and publishing paper. Thanks to IBM colleagues especially for this. So I encourage you I mean in free time use kisskit at least I mean during your course work. I came to know yesterday from somebody that we do not we didn't have any kisskit course in computer science earlier which is true or not I

50:04 don't know but in our in our quantum uh program quantum technology institute we will really specialize in kiskit application and other software as well. So you should not wait for that. You should practice um during your free time and I wish you uh if you if you want ideas or um you know some what to program etc. you can approach our faculties we have very good faculties and who can assist you you know to write uh the program or to publish papers etc. And once again, thank you and uh

50:51 Okay, once again, thank you for uh um hosting this um this great event and um enjoy your your program. >> Yeah, thank you sir. Thank you so much for addressing the gathering. Actually uh in CSC department also uh even in physics our CSC mainly they took initiative long back for the kids as well. So this is like uh it's already like students are doing but we have to take the next level. So that's what the phase is for uh this face is for all the students who really want to do really great things. Thank you sir. Thank you so much sir. Yeah. Thank you sir. So moving to sorry moving towards the next speaker I would like to uh introduce like I I would like to invite our

51:38 honorable ch vice chancellor sir professor ch satish kumar sir. Uh sir uh to address the gathering I would like to invite you sir sir over to you sir thank you sir >> thank you audible yes sir yes sir you are audible sir yeah >> okay Dr. [snorts] Mr. Sridar, mission director AP uh state quantum mission and uh our favorite wanket and uh our dean sir Tommy and dean quantum sonad and uh most importantly the speakers of the day Raghav and Jaykumar and uh uh and Van my dear students and participants very warm welcome to this SRM online uh cubit

52:25 training program. Actually, I always like offline but uh now the end generation Zenzi model of online. Uh thanks for the support by Sther and Wanket to our team for arranging the sessions and uh arranging the speakers. Really appreciate that. This is one of our efforts because the university's role is to create facilities giving opportunity for training training teaching and coming out with a good wonderful committed workforce for this quantum. Now there's a trend now quantum sessions centers are created but we require people to work on that actually I think many more such waras effort

53:11 should have I think many more I think we should bring many more such training programs to train them I'm so happy to see that first speaker is ra singing who is an application dollar for at IBM I think is a hands-on I think thanks to wget I think for arranging I think I I'm I'm not impressed with the speakers we all speaking I'm seeing the first session of it as a teacher I'm so impressed that I think he's going to give you the firstand experience I think many I saw that many of them are around 3,000 participants registered more than 3,000 among them many are there the first timers actually for them I think rao would take it through it I think thanks to first special thanks to Rago for agreeing it another important person I think our dean quantum hely

53:58 explain explain explained the the way he has gone through the kiskuit and published papers and >> [clears throat] >> uh and he started his career. I think this is one of the important career path he has given to all of us all of you. It is it is sky is the limit quantum sky is not the limit will say so I think we the opportunities are created my opinion this request worsha to take this session not to stop here take it for the servers and then u create a community of this discret training trained community and SRM community every year whenever you add the people and start one forum

54:43 for their questions and retraining and advanced training and with their levels of training and um I'm quite impressed that the homework I also written down the homework what wanket has given first He told that write one program one two liners program. Second he talked about that go to YouTube and use the quantum computer and I written that place also zero to quantum and third he told that go and go and read it on the Wikipedia. I'm telling why I'm repeating to all of you these are very important steps for any learner. I think it looks very simple but these are the processes you have to learn there. I think uh thanks to Wenut giving guidance. Yeah, I think I will also follow Wenut and I'll get back to you. Okay. And I I wish I

55:31 could attend Rago's uh session. I think we are going to record that. I think most probably Vosa I would like to see the sessions videos. I will go through that. I think thanks for everyone who are coming together and putting it together. I think this is the beginning. we will do many more such things and create a larger community of users and create great committed workforce. Thank you. Thanks to everyone. Thank you very much. >> Uh thank you sir. Uh actually sir this is the three uh yeah three uh days we planned for online because the participants have to come to SRM for offline event. So it is going to not going to end this month. So three days we are going to give the knowledge about how to develop and what is this from scratch to uh the next level and offline

56:18 we are selecting 200 particip 300 participants on campus we will give some events challenges to them on campus again sir with the speakers and training all these sessions 26th to 30th October offline event >> perfect perfect thank you for your insightful words and thank you for your time sir valuable time uh moving toward towards the next I'm handing over to the Sya. Sya, are you here? >> Yeah. Please introduce. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you so much, sir. Sir. Yeah. I know that you have meetings. Yes, sir. Sorry, sir. Thank you, sir. Thank you everyone for joining this session. I'm very >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Thank you, sir. Thank you so much. Yeah. >> Once again, thank you to all our dignitaries and guests.

57:05 >> Uh we now move into one of the foundational session of our festival. understanding quantum computing and learning how to program it. It is my privilege to introduce our speaker Dr. Raa Shingla, application developer at IBM and an active KisKit advocate with a strong focus on quantum computing and a Kiskuit software ecosystem. His background connects software development with quantum computing actively participating in kiskuit developer programs and quantum learning initiatives. Today he will introduce the core ideas behind quantum computing and kisskit giving us the foundation to bring building and experiencing with quantum circuits. Please join us sir Dr.

57:54 Radash. >> Yeah. Uh thanks Andy for introducing me. Let me share my screen. I think I don't Yeah. So is my screen visible Sya? >> Yes sir, it is visible. >> Yeah. So thanks for introducing. It is my honor to be part of SRM Kiskit Falest as our other dignitaries introduce with the quantum realm and the efforts that institute is paving right that would fulfill and worth it in the future. So

58:40 let me start with my my topic introduction to IBM quantum and kisskits. So let us start first with the image right in the right side you can see birds right and I think most of you have guessed these birds represent IBM quantum processors right if you see like IBM flamingo eagle and many more. So at IBM we have a mission to bring useful quantum to the world. Here in the right side you can see the image of one of the quantum computer. It is a chandear right that is used for maintaining the temperature right

59:25 currently we don't have superconductors in room temperature. So we need need temperature below 0 kelvin mill kelvin temperature to have superc conductivity for transmon cubit or junction. Here you can find this gray gray uh area right this is used to isolate the quantum processor from the environmental noise like sound heat and other or radiations. And here in the below you can find this round. This is our quantum processor. So whenever we talk about computing we talk about problems. If you go far back

1:00:12 right when Turing devis a thesis right Turing introduce a machine to compute then the question was same can machine solve problems right till today if we talk about computers we talk about problems right in computer science we have classification of problems that we can solve on computers depending on how hard they are. Either they can be solved in polomial time that are P problems, P hard problems or cannot be solved in polinomial time that is non polomial time NP hard problems. Quantum does not come does not solve all the problems

1:00:59 that are NP hard but promises that can solve the problem that are not solvable with current classical methods but can be solvable on a quantum method. So let us see one of the problem of ferrris sulfate or fer sulfate. How we can molecules are how what are the energy states of the molecules in the fer sulfate with the current technology or the classical methods. We need almost 63 pabyte of memory and about eight hours of running time with classical

1:01:45 approximate methods to get similar results that we with the quantum computer and quantum methods has delivered with 12 minutes 77 cubits plus 1.5 hours of super computer time. That is astonishing. This is not the only problem that quantum can solve. There are many other problems like of EV fast charging, designing lighter and stronger material for aerodynamics, drug discovery, designing optimal supercomput for MRI. We have in communication sector improving anomaly detection, patient care. In financial market we have risk

1:02:32 management. In logistic market we have vehicle routing problem and many more. So what what is why only quantum can solve right? So there are some problems quantum has a structure of linear algebra group theory that classical computer doesn't offer. So there are some set of problems that can be easily solved in the quantum but classically hard. Why it is so? So fanman has said that nature is quantum right. So you need a quantum computer to simulate the nature.

1:03:17 We are focusing on Yes s 1 hour please. 1 hour. >> Sorry about that. Yeah. So we have a problem. What we are doing? We are focusing on the problem that can be exploited on the quantum computer and problems that are classically hard like optimization problem. So here we are so far in 2023 we have published a circuit of quantum utility we have sim we have run more than 5,000 of two cubit gates with

1:04:06 with maximum fidelity in 2024 and we are aiming in 2029 to sim to run more than 100 million two cubit gates for that paradigum we need to computers. We will see about that in coming slides. So we we used to hear a word when we we see quantum computers is quantum advantage. So what is a quantum advantage? Quantum advantage is performing an information processing task efficiently and cost effectively and accurately on a quantum computer as compared to classic computer alone. But it is very hard to

1:04:54 prove quantum advantage. The one reason is validation of and verification. As you can understand that there are some set of problems that can be better solved on quantum computers can't be solved on classical computers. So it is very hard to verify the results or output of the quantum computer with the current state of classical methods and the only solution for that is experiments that what nature says. The next thing is quantum advantage is not something that you need to prove one time, right? It should be there, right? Either this is an hypothesis that

1:05:39 quantum computer can can can do better calculation than classical computer. This hypothesis can be falsified. So what is quantum computer? Quantum computers are computers that are based on quantum principles or principles from quantum physics. And mainly there are three major principles that current modern state of quantum computers use. First is superposition. If you remember from your physics classes the Heisenberg principle that for any quantum particle the position and the momentum the accuracy

1:06:28 of precision of measuring position and the momentum is can be is greater than Heisenberg constant. It dignifies superposition which means that a quantum particle can be in multiple quantum state at the same time till you don't observe the or till you don't measure it. That is called superposition. Next is all favorite entanglement. Even Einstein said that entanglement is a spooky action. sharing of information beyond the surface beyond the space

1:07:14 boundaries. It is like that if a two particles are entangled right and one is at the edge of universe and another is another edge of the universe information can still be shared between them. Next is interference. Interference is a particle can interact with other particle and can interfere with the amplitude and other attributes of the quantum particles. So with our classical computers or our electronics systems we have a M's law that number of transistor on a classical CPUs or a classical chip

1:08:01 would double down every 1.5 years but unfortunately in the last decade we don't see such a kind of progress because we already reaching reach to nanometer scale and So comparison perspective bore radius of hydrogen atom is about angstrom. So slowly with the classical chips also we are moving to the quantum films. So but what is the problem with the bits right the problem with the bits is that they took loads of space. If if you need to understand that for representing any character we need SI codes right

1:08:48 that is at least need byes eight bit you need at least to represent one alphabet. We would see in detail right in coming slides that with superposition we can reduce that space. Classically we represent information either in a zero or one and zero and one can represent the voltage or a current of the circuit or a transistor. But in the quantum realm we have quantum bits which represent quantum information and it can be represent over a block

1:09:34 square. We would see what is block in coming slides and right side it is a sample quantum circuit. So a bit right a cube bit can be a superposition of two states zero state or one state and the coefficient of these states represent modulo of this coefficient and square modulo of these coefficient represent the probability of getting this state at the end of the circuit not the at the end of the experiment. ment while measuring the observable. So we have like classical computers we

1:10:20 have gates we have polyax gate it's it it is similar to the note gate in the classical circuit it is bit flip cir bit flip gate if you apply this gate on any superposition state it would flip the coefficients you can see zero state would become one and one state become zero Next is poly hard gate right that that is used to change the superposition state into equal probability state. It is similar to like having a coin either head or a toss. We would see that application also.

1:11:07 So mathematically what we all the quantum state can be represent on the Hbert space and to represent any state on the Hbert space we use vectors and here is a notation direct cat notation we use right so we can read it cat zero or cat one and can be represented by one of the vector 1 0 or 0 1 and It is a complex space means you can represent complex numbers or you can have a quantum state with a complex numbers and for who are intrigued with this right see like if you remember the

1:11:53 shinger equation shinger equation has also an iota complex number the probability as we discuss of getting that state is coefficient mod square and as you know that the sum of the probabilities in a space is always one. So cofficient of a square + b square is always one. Here you can see the block square that we are talking about. You can represent any cubit on a block sphere for multi if in a qu in general right if you have a quantum system with more than two states right we are talking about cubit with two states zero

1:12:40 and one but there can be system which represent more than two state it can be electron spin it can be any other natural phenomena which can have more than quant more than two quantum state then that this block square would change. So it is only for applicable for two bit or two state quantum state representation here with the help of a isomeal angle and five angle you can represent any vector or any quantum state on a block sphere. Now the one of the important point is measurement

1:13:26 as unlike classical mechanics right observable change with the measurement or you can say measurement is also an observable. What it means classically it means if you are moving with a speed X right despite who is viewing with the reference frame it would be always be an X speed or X velocity but quantum mechanically it changes with the how you measure if you have a quantum superposition state how you measure the state would change the output would change the observable.

1:14:13 Hence it is always a probability to measure any of those state or after the measurement the state superposition state collapse either zero or one depending on the iteration we will get the frequency of getting the state in the experiment. Next is entanglement. In the left side you can see one of our quantum processor which represent Q bits and gates. We would see in coming slide also that how we map a work superposition state with a quantum processor. So you can see here that there can be a state with two cubit right which has a space a cat 000 b cat 01 c 1 0 d k 1 1

1:15:06 and as I said sum of probability over the space of state is always one. So mod of a square + b square c² + d square is 1. So what is an entanglement right? So if you observe these state right first one state is not entangled but other state is entangled. One thing to observe is physical phenomena that whenever the first bit is zero then another cubit is just poly x of that state that is one and whenever it is one then it would be zero and another thing to note is that this state like this state can be

1:15:54 factored but this state can't be factored or can't be represent as a product of two superposition state because it is an entanglement state. gates and operations. We have like in classical computers, right? We have gates and gates, exor gate, nor gates, right? That are made of of transistors, MOS, simos and other. Likewise, we have gates. We have gates in quantum computers too. Unlike classical computers, we don't have direct representing of exor gate, end gate, other gates in the quantum

1:16:39 computer. But with the sets of polyates or other gates, you can build up classical gates, classical adders or others. Here you can see this left side are the cubits and this is a image from the quantum platform right IBM quantum platform you would learn more later right so this represent the initial state that is zero state then it represent the hard gate then it represent measurement gate I told you that measurement is an also an observable so measurement is also a gate in IBM in a quantum computing and here you

1:17:25 can get a state either zero or one. Here is a typically a big circuit for encoding and decoding purpose where here like if you have a application in a machine learning or quantum machine learning right so the question is very simple that how you can represent data in a quantum computing or quantum computer space. One way is you can encode the information of your data on a quantum quantum states or set of quantum state and can decode that and another way is you can use the amplitude or the state as a bit or

1:18:13 can represent the classical data. And next is interference right like interference is like waves we have a interference constructive destructive depending on the constructive and destructive interference the amplitude of the cubits right can change the amplitude of measuring right amplitude here means the coefficient that we saw in the later in the last slides right a or b can be changed depending on the various operation So here right side is one of the demonstration from Grover's algorithm where we we would like to find this 0 1 0 cat state in the among the

1:19:00 other quantum state. So first we interfere destructively and reduce it to minus negative. Then we again did the same and with a constructive interference the amplitude has doubled down like this is how the speed up came and the growers algorithm is better than another shooting another searching algorithms. So most of us as of now has has a cup of coffee right caffeine. So do can we represent the caffeine right or can we find the all the on values on state or

1:19:46 energy state for the caffeine. Let us see the complexity of the problem. So it is estimated that we need about 10 raised to power 48 classical beads to represent the energy configuration of single caffeine molecule and as an 10 to^ 48 may represent one to total number of atoms in the earth. So but but with superposition we need only one six logical cubits. How it is? So so if you consider a cubit right cubit

1:20:33 one cubit one logical cubit can represent two states at the same time. So 160 cubits can represent 2 raised to power 160 logical states at the same time. So this is in the right side you can see the big repres India or quantum computer. So what what quantum computer can offer? Quantum computer are new paradigm of computations and it can offer solutions to those problems that classical computers can't. One of those problem is vehicle routing problem. You can see from image how or salesman problem.

1:21:22 Classical computed well suited for many problems. But quantum with quantum computers, you can unlock many interactable problems on classical computers. Even in quantum space, right? Means in the quantum problem space, the problems that quantum computer can solve, there are some problems that are interesting, right? But there are some problems that can be time quantum computers or are essential. So right we are aiming for 100 million 2 cubit

1:22:09 quantum circuits to run on quantum computer in 2029. So it is a very far away and we need for running shore and growers algorithm we need a fall tolerant quantum computer and there are some easy set of problems like arithmetic video games that that don't need quantum computers right that can be easily solved on classical computers so we are in a sweet spot where where we don't have the ftoriant quantum in computers and we have some problems that are hard on classical computers that is we call quantum utility space.

1:22:58 There can be problems that are ranging from chemistry and material and optimization and such that we are bowling for near-term right and there are some problems for longer term either it is quantum machine learning numerical simulation in like aerospace for to discover the material for high and standful aircraft automative advancing batteries for chemical Chemicals discovery, drug discovery for electronics deposition, each process for energy grid management for financial services, portfolio optimization for healthcare, mRNA and protein structure predictions.

1:23:44 So with Ksk and IBM quantum processors, we can have a utility scale at work. So for running quantum hardware right we need a quantum software. We need a software that can be used to manipulate or to use quantum hardware. Quantum must be easy to use. So this uh shows this slide shows current state of architect uh architecture for kiskit. Let us start from bottom up right where here is our quantum computer quantum hardware

1:24:31 quantum processor chip kiskit runtime and we have some CPUs GPUs or AI units or the controllers with the quantum computer. Then above that we have sage of heterogeneous orchestration layer with kisskit serverless with kisskit plus hpc integration. Yeah with kiskit version 2.x text. We have kisskit C APIs that that can be used to integrate with HPCs, high performance computers like GPUs, CPUs, right, for par processing. Then we have developer tools kissits as software development kit SDK

1:25:18 add-ons that have specific created problems that have solution for specific created problems for different sectors. Either it is from chemistry quantum chemistry or it can be from other domains. We have quantiskit transpiler service or open quasm right that can be used to translate or compile the kiskkit code to the hardware. Then we have more abstract level that is kisskit functions catalog that has precurated algorithm that you can use directly map to your uh quantum your use case to the quantum hardware.

1:26:03 If you have a hard you have a Hamiltonian you can easily with KisKit function you can use QA or other kind of problems and then we have a KisKit so those who are new to Kiskit can use KisKit code assistant for better help. So what is KisKit SDK? So we have in the quantum community if it needs a circuit then it needs kit. Why it is so? We launched the kisskit in 2018 right for our IBM quantum hardware. It was before 2018. It was an internal project for quant IBM quantum hardware. We made

1:26:51 it open source. With time more than 10 plus quantum hardware providers support Kiskit either it is from IBM quantum, AQT, IQM, Azure quantum, Amazon bracket, INQ, rietti and many more. So why people are adopting? The first reason is speed. Overall speed or overall time from state initialization to the final measurement after postp processing it took for one task 49 minutes with kisskit with other software development kit like ticket it took 27 hours

1:27:38 and for building and manipulating time if we compare the kisskit took 7.4 4 second only that is onethird or at least fifth half of the time that other software development kit currently available too and the ratio of two kit circuit or two quantum circuits basically uh when you map a problem with kisskit right the quantum processor hardware also matters you can't directly map your problem to the quantum hardware because the location of the cubits on the hardware can vize the location of the

1:28:26 cubit in your code or in your program. So you need to swap the cubits right you need two cubit quantum circuits or two cubit quantum gates to swap. So it took only 1x kiss right but for tat and stock it is 1.31 and 2.8 respectively. So more the gates would be used in more the time it would take to compile. So we have a kisskit par that how you can use kisskit or to model any problem with quantum computer. First you map your problem

1:29:11 with quantum circuits and operators. Then we have a layout optimization. How can you optimize the >> quantum program or transpile the optimization for modeling that quantum circuit on real quantum hardware. Then you execute your quantum program on real quantum hardware. After your job is completed, you got the result. Now as you know that today's quantum computers are prone to noise. So you need to mitigate some noise errors to do final processing at the real result from the experiment.

1:29:56 So for mapping purpose we have kisskit circuit library that you can use to create quantum or circuits. Then for optimization we have a transpiler that take cares of both chip layout and your program. Then we have primitives estimators or samplers to run or finally execute your program on real quantum hardware. Then we have quantum info module that can be used for visualization on post pro processing. With KisKit 2.0 row we also added MF, MPF, multiproduct formulas, circuit cutting and in visualization we have M3, SQD

1:30:45 and many more. So what is our formula for usual quantum computing hardware? We have a utility scale quantum computers software. We have we as we saw that our kisskit software is one of the performant opensource quantum software development kit available for use ecosystem. We have a very wide and vivid quantum community comprising more than 300 clients and partners solving real life scientific problems with quantum computers. We have dedicated IBM quantum platform

1:31:31 where you can use, learn and find quantum resources and can simulate and can run real quantum program on real quantum hardware. We are not alone as an IBM we provides KisKit we provides quantum hardware services. There are other universities like K University, University of Tokyo, Yoni University, SE, National University, University of Chicago that

1:37:43 offers quantum programs. They some of them also started offering degree programs in quantum research either it is master or a small project in a undergraduate level. So quantum software plus Kiskit right we have KisKit add-ons Kiskit functions plus KisKit plus quantum processing needs we can have a useful quantum work uh keeping the eyes on the time we can keep the hands on your leader can speak more about that in later uh time in the kiskuit fall phase the next steps so how you can start your journey in the quantum computer, right?

1:38:30 Start with IBM quantum learning platform where you can find various programs from beginners just zero to making quantum running complex quantum algorithms on real quantum hardware. There are tutorials, there are courses from leading quantum experts in the industry. We have quantum challenges, right? Annually we we organize quantum challenge that people in the community can come can join their hands can solve real life problems on real quantum hardware. We have very active and dedicated IBM quantum community where you can share your thoughts, learn about quantum

1:39:17 computing like either it is IBM quantum learning platform, Kiskit YouTube channel, Kiskit developer certification or annually we organize Kiskit global summer school or our one of the global program KKKit advocacy program. So KisKit global summer program is one of the annual program that we organize in the summer where industry leaders come tell teach about the recent advant advances and their work about quantum computers where you can participate learn about quantum computer and it is occur every year no matter the

1:40:03 background you can start from scratch with the quantum global summer H we have kissiskit fall fest events like these universities and other institutes organize in the fall a fest for quantum computing where people or the people can aware about quantum computer kisskit can have a hands on quantum computer or kisskit so far since 2021 we have more than 500 events and more than 60,000 attendees all over the globe We have summer internship. We have IBM quantum summer internship program. These are the interns from class 2023 where you can have experience and can explore

1:40:51 real quantum hardware and kisskit software. Kiskit advocate programs provides you all the things with the mentorship you can mentor networking you have a reach and right mindset people that are involved in the quantum community events events like Kiskuit fall fest kiskuit global school you can participate on those events can mentor those events recognition this is one of the created and respected community for quantum advocates. So what is a kisskit advocate program? So uh in 2020 we have a first launched

1:41:37 the KisKit advocate program. Now we have changed somewhat. The pro the main goal of a Kiskit advocate is building meaningful meaningful connections right gaining exclusive access to kiskit education events making opensource contribution and participating in kiskit events. It is perfect for the buing researchers that want to start their journey with quantum computers either. So students, software developers, educators all over the globe. So we have now tired module right by default you would be blue tired right with considering your contribution to the quantum community kisskit community you

1:42:24 can level up to other tires purple pink or black right you can h get more details about kiskit advocate program you can scan here and it is open to all it is inclusive community you can apply despite your background in quantum computer and start learning Kiskit and quantum computer. So you can scan this QR code right and learn more about resources of quant Kiskuit fileface and thanks for your time listening me patiently. So it ends my today's uh meeting and I am open for

1:43:11 Q&A. Yeah. Uh thank you sir. It was a wonderful session. Informative you very like basics to you to introduced very well about the Kiskit platform to our participants. Uh participants if you have any questions the forum is open for you.

1:44:11 Sir, we are giving access to our students. They will ask you just a minute. Wait, please. >> Yeah, no worries. S take your time. >> Sir, are quiskuit advocates only some higher higher grade professors or someone or like a student like me can join it? Yeah. Yeah. Namesh, thanks. Thanks for that question. Yeah. Kiss kid advocate is open for right. Despite your background with quantum computer or kiss, right? You can learn with the path, right? You can learn as you go. So you can apply for KisKit advocate program today only, right? And can become a KisKit advocate program, right? It doesn't matter that if you are a

1:44:57 student or a newbie to the quantum computers, right? You can start learning and contributing to the Kiskuit and contemp community with the time. Yeah. >> Thank you sir. Sir few I think few more students are uh writing the uh their questions sir. Just wait for a few more minutes sir. We have five more minutes. Five to 6 minutes. Just >> no worries. No worries. Thanks to you, sir. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Raja tell me. >> Yeah. So, what are the most practical

1:45:45 applications of quantum computing for the next two 10 to 15 years? See uh let me little bit give a more broader answer right where we can use quantum computers in next 10 to 5 years. So I would suggest that we are currently using quantum computers right we are using quantum computers in drug discovery we are using quantum computers in risk or portfolio management in financial markets if in 10 to five minute hour in 10 to five years we may might have fall tolerant computers we have we can run growers algorithm and shorts algorithm that can open space for

1:46:32 more kind of applications applications like in cryptography, cyber security, right? And also we basically the logic behind the quantum computers is solving those problems that are classically difficult. It can be in any sector and the near-term application that I can see are have a quantum advantage and has proven advantage are from a science background either it is quantum chemistry, quantum drug discovery and many more. Yeah Raju I think it answers your question. Yes sir. Thank you sir.

1:47:22 Dear participants, if you have questions, please go ahead. audible. >> Yes sir. >> Yeah. So actually I am from physics background. Uh I am most interested in hardware hardware side like building the UV itself. So what is the platform for the for physics perspective from hardware perspective perspective

1:48:08 the best resources to guide me so that I can build future quantum computer resources >> correct correct yeah so that is a very broad question right so like unlike classical computers we don't have one common architecture for quantum computers Different scientific communities use different quantum processes for simulating quantum computers. Right? At IBM we are using super quantum superconducting cubits, transmon cubits, right? For making quantum computers. Atq we are using ions right ions and photons for simulating quantum computers. There are some other examples where people are

1:48:55 using photonics and I think as I learned that at SRM we are also going to use diamond natural vacancies right we are using diamond natural vacancies for quantum computers. So it depends that where you want to go right for superconducting cubid you can concentrate on condensed matter physics and for photonics al you can concentrate on optics. So it and there are some open tools right where you can u you can make quantum hardware but they need softwares like NCS or other there is one I can

1:49:41 remember is thisum metal right where you
