  • The presenter believes the Pura 80 Ultra could become the top-ranked smartphone camera and encourages viewers to donate for a review.

Introduction to the Huawei Pura 80 Series

The presenter introduces the newly announced Huawei Pura 80 series, highlighting its innovative features, particularly in the camera department. The series includes vanilla, Pro, Pro Plus, and Ultra versions, with the Ultra model being the most interesting due to its camera capabilities. The video is recorded using the Pura 70 Ultra's internal microphones, which the presenter praises for their sound quality and noise cancellation.

Pura 80 Ultra's Camera Advancements

The Pura 80 Ultra features a self-developed 1-inch sensor with low fig support, providing excellent high dynamic range (HDR). This HDR performance surpasses even that of the Honor Magic 6 RSR. The phone's AI support enhances low-light performance, potentially outperforming other smartphones in the market. The telephoto zoom has been significantly improved, featuring a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, the largest telephoto sensor in the industry, also used by the Vivo X200 Ultra as their main camera and ultra-wide angle.

Innovative Periscope Technology

Huawei employs a new periscope technology in the Pura 80 Ultra that can switch between two different lenses, offering 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom. The 9.4x zoom can be cropped to achieve a 10x zoom with added stabilisation. This telephoto zoom is considered the best on the market, utilising a 1/1.28-inch sensor without cropping to achieve the 9.4x zoom. The technology involves moving elements and switching between lenses to direct reflection to the sensor.

R&D and Potential of the Pura 80 Ultra

The innovative periscope system demonstrates Huawei's significant investment in research and development. While not optical zoom, rumours suggest Huawei is working on such technology for future models like the Pura 90 series. The 50-megapixel sensor allows for high-quality zoomed images, even at 15x or 20x, without significant loss of quality. The presenter praises the image quality, noting the absence of AI rendering issues seen in other brands like Vivo.

Photography and Videography Capabilities

The Pura 80 Ultra is expected to excel in both photography and videography, particularly in challenging conditions like stage and concert shots. The technology behind the camera system is innovative, and the presenter believes Huawei has outdone themselves with this model. While the Pro and Pro Plus versions are also good, the Ultra is considered the pinnacle of smartphone photography.

Potential DxO Mark Ranking and Call to Action

The presenter anticipates the Pura 80 Ultra will likely achieve the top spot in DxO Mark and potentially in his own camera ranking system. He encourages viewers to donate to help him purchase the device for a hands-on review, estimating the cost to be around €1,200. Donors may receive early access to the review video, similar to the benefits offered to channel members.

0:00 Have you seen that the Purai 80 series has been announced by Huawei and it's magnificent? It is just um yeah true innovation I would say especially in the camera department but not only in the camera department they have like 6 what is it 6.6 and 6.8 in screens they have again a vanilla version a pro a pro plus version and an ultra version. I'm recording this here with the Pura 70 Ultra with the internal mics by the way. So, they're very nice, those mics. Uh, hear a bit of sounds of the nature here, but they are still focusing very nicely on my voice, which is, I think, quite great. And this new Pura 80 series, I think the Ultra is like the one that is like most interesting for people because

0:47 this is the camera champ. This features a self-developed 1 in type sensor that features a low fig support. So this very good high dynamic range support that already the OV50X I think. Okay. Was it on the Huawei on the Honor actually Honor Magic 6 RSR has. And I noticed already the good HDR there. But this one here will beat it even further with tons of EV stops that it has. So it is like super super great there. But this is not the only thing that they optimized. Ah y support is also on board. So you can imagine low light performance being splendid

1:34 just beating probably all the other smartphones right now out there and the camera systems. But then the teles zoom has improved even further. one over 1.28 in size sensor that we have here. So, the largest telephoto sensor that the industry has to offer. This is the same sensor that the Vivo X 200 Ultra uses as their main camera and the ultra wide angle. So, they are using it as their teles. I don't think it's the same sensor but the same sensor size. And they're using a new periscope technology that has the ability to

2:19 switch the periscope between two different lenses, offering 3.7 time zoom. My daughter is also impressed by this and 9.4 time optical zoom. You can then easily crop into 10x because like 9.4, before. It's just a little bit more cropped in probably for stabilization which probably why we always did and then there's an echo. Now we are now in the echo chamber now and so we're out of it. So no echo anymore. Uh anyway, it is probably the best teles zoom out of the on the market right now. At least the best hardware for it. You can imagine like the last time they had a 10x zoom was the P40 Pro Plus that I

3:08 also still have. And uh yes, we have a true basically 10x optical zoom. It's 9.4x but one over 1.28 in size sensor and they're not cropping in to get this 9.4 times. It's purely optical. They have elements that are moving around. It's not the same technology that um Sony with with the Xperia developed that is like optical zoom that is like going this zoom range. It's just two different lenses and they're just switching one lens going down and they're switching so that the reflection goes to the sensor to via a different lens. So this is their technology that they're using here. It's just magnificent. It is just like pure. It shows how much R&D Huawei

3:54 put in the last couple of years to develop such a thing. And it's not optical zoom yet. There were rumors that they are also working on an optical zoom like this. I can imagine the Pura 90 series maybe have an even optical zoom level that would be even greater. But this zoom level at 10x with this large kind of a sensor and it's I think 50 megapixel sensor that we have here can you can imagine like 15x zoom even 20x zoom will look good. It will look because it's a crop in like from the 50 megap sensor it's almost 10x you crop in a little bit get 20x roughly it will look magnificent and the photos that they were showing is just splendid. It's just like

4:40 unbelievably good. You don't have any AI rendering issues that you have on the Vivo where Vivo tries very hard and it's best in the industry right now. It's just mindblowing. Stage shots, concert shots, not only with photos but also with videos will look just like breathtaking. And this is yeah a new innovative kind of design that has to prove itself but the technology behind it is just fascinating. And I think that Huawei really outdid themselves here with this new Pura 80 Ultra. The Pro and Pro Plus version are also not very bad. Also feature 1 in type sensor there which is quite nice in our B. But I

5:26 think the Ultra is the pinnacle of smartphone photography. Once again, it will climb to the top number one spot probably in DxO Mark. And if I get my hands on it, maybe also on my camera ranking system. If you want to see the Pure 80 Ultra in my hands, there's a donate button. So, I have the possibility to get this device right from China and have to import it a little bit, pay a little bit more probably for it. It's like roughly uh €1,200 if I calculate it correctly. a,000 RMBB. It's a bit of expensive device, but yeah, is it worth it? For camera nerds like me, probably yes. So, if you're interested in the Pura 80 Ultra,

6:11 just write a comment maybe and donate. Don't forget to donate. If a lot if everyone of you of my subscribers will donate, I have definitely enough money to buy the Pura twice. So just one €2 are enough for a donation and then you will get the video and um maybe all those people that got the uh the donated will also get the possibility to see the videos earlier. So we'll send out the links to them earlier, not earlier than the members because the members are already paying but at the same time as the members. So basically, you get a membership for free if you um yeah, donate a little bit there for the Pure 80 Ultra. That's it for this short little video about the

6:57 Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. Until the next time. Bye.
